A Toro cigar is the perfect-sized cigar that falls between a Robusto and a Churchill. For both amateurs and experts, Toros are considered the go-to size of cigars. It is sometimes referred to as Corona Gorda which is thicker and longer than the regular Corona size.

Today we will cover these cigars if they are good for beginners and some of the best ones available on the market!

WHAT SIZE IS A TORO CIGAR?

On average, a Toro cigar measures 5 to 6 inches long with a ring gauge of 46 to 52. However, it can be as long as 6 ½ inches with a ring gauge of 54.

Many cigar companies have toro sized cigars in their portfolios due to its popularity and high demand across the cigar world.

IS A TORO SIZE CIGAR GOOD FOR BEGINNERS?

Absolutely! If you’re an amateur smoker then this is your best bet. If you’re looking to step up your smoking game and move away from minis or robustos; this is another great option for you.

The thinner and longer the cigar gets, the more flavor from the tobacco blend you’ll taste. So if you find a toro in a 5 by 46 versus a 4 x 40 robusto, I would recommend trying out the toro to maximize your smoking experience!

HOW LONG DO TORO CIGARS LAST?

If your Toro cigars happen to measure at about 5 x 50 then it should burn and smoke for about 45-50 minutes. It depends on how fast you puff but we always advise taking it slow to savor the moment more deeply.

On the other hand if it’s larger size like 6 x 52 then expect your smoke session last anywhere from around 55 minutes – hour long.

Again this all depends on how fast/slow decide smoke but those are average times toro sizes burn.

TORO VS TORPEDO CIGAR

Different name but they share something in common. The thing that makes a Toro cigar and a Torpedo cigar similar is the fact that both of these sticks are usually made into the exact same size.

However, there is one major difference between Toros and Torpedos which is that a torpedo (or “pyramid” cigar) is more difficult to make. The top part of this type has got created with pointed cap while bottoms often have thicker ring gauges than foots do.

Therefore although coming at equal lengths, toro cigars differ greatly from torpedo cigars in several aspects.

WHAT ARE THE BEST TORO CIGARS?

Like I mentioned earlier most companies tend to have at least one toro in their portfolio due to its popularity among majority cigar smokers.

Some of our favorite toro sized cigars we love to smoke are this 6 x 52 full-bodied gem called Liga Privada No. 9 Toro by Drew Estate. Former private smoke Steve Saka had Cedar, Cocoa, Leather and Floral tones on each third!

Other than that, a good Toro-sized cigar that we enjoy smoking is the 6 x 52 medium to full-bodied cigar from Foundation called the Highclere Castle Victorian. Inspired by the famous castle in the hit show Downton Abbey, this Ecuadorian Habano wrapper is stunning. This delicious wrapper gives off tasty flavor notes such as dried fruit, sweet spice, wood, and leather.

Lastly, but not leastly because it’s also a toro! The Padron 1926 Series No. 90 Tubo is our last favorite. This smoke might be on the pricier side but everything about this cigar is totally worth the price tag. While smoking this 5.50 x 52 gem you will get hints of cocoa powder mixed with some sweet spices followed up by a dash or two of pepper and earthiness thrown in for good measure too!
